For over 20 years, Connections Academy has delivered a highly engaging online school curriculum for grades 9–12. Designed by experts in online learning, our online high school courses ignite curiosity and expand our students’ understanding of the world and their place in it. From learning about core concepts to using their new knowledge to fuel creativity, our students build the essential skills and adaptability they need to go further in the classroom and wherever life takes them.

Online High School Courses
Specifically designed for online learning, high school classes online for grades 9–12 help students develop a lifelong passion for learning and thrive. Course highlights include:
- Core and Elective Courses: Our inclusive set of core high school courses, which students are required to complete in order to receive a high school diploma, covers subjects in math, science, English, and social studies. We also offer many electives in areas such as foreign languages, digital technology, journalism, and art history
- Honors and Advanced Placement® (AP®)* Courses: Our honors/AP courses are particularly beneficial for college-bound students or any ambitious student who wishes to excel in a specific subject area
- Dedicated and specially-trained certified teachers and support staff to ensure each student is on track
- College Courses: Students in certain states may be able to take college courses while still in high school, simultaneously earning high school and college credit

Dedicated Support and Guidance for High School Students
It’s important to us that both students and parents feel prepared and supported throughout the educational journey. Our dedicated and passionate community of teachers, counselors, and support staff provide the attention and resources that learning families need to succeed. Connections Academy virtual high school students work collaboratively with their counselors and Learning Coaches to develop a personal learning plan for academic progress and postsecondary planning after receiving a high school diploma. Every core subject is taught by highly qualified and certified teachers with expertise in their relevant content areas.

To make sure that the graduating class of seniors is well prepared for the transition out of virtual high school, Connections Academy provides:
- A College Planning Club to help students develop a portfolio that focuses on elements sought by college admissions committees

- Assistance in creating a four-year academic plan

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM SUCCESS
Interacting in the Online Classroom
Student interaction and participation in the virtual classroom is critical to success in the overall education process. While most of the instruction supports anytime, anywhere learning, students also participate in a live online classroom environment through the Pearson Online Classroom. The Pearson Online Classroom delivers everything a student needs in one place, from accessing their lessons and assessments, to communicating with teachers and tracking progress.
During live instruction, teachers reinforce challenging concepts and motivate students to become active learners—engaging and participating in activities, asking questions, and collaborating with peers through microphone and chat. These interactions foster collaboration and bring the curriculum to life while allowing teachers to build meaningful relationships and gain an understanding of lesson comprehension.
